Meet Suzie
The juggle may be real, but Suzie Goodall is mastering
the act of juggling multiple businesses and working
on her work/life balance.
Rocketing revenues and scoring at her team alignment,
Suzie is climbing to the top of her A-game.
Who: Suzie Goodall
What: Powerhouse Physio, Brace for Innovation (BFI), Powerhouse Gym.
Where: All located at National Hockey Centre in Lyneham, Canberra
When: Powerhouse Physio: Feb 2005, BFI: 2019, Powerhouse Gym: July 2020
Why: Powerhouse Physio: I wanted to have the control and decision-making ability to chart my own career path so I thought I would go out on my own.
Brace for Innovation: I saw a great opportunity to bring a custom-made, 3D scanned and printed ankle brace, a brace like no other, into Australia, from Holland.
Powerhouse Gym: This one is twofold – Firstly it was a great opportunity to complement my Physio practice by providing an area for rehab and prehab for our patients. Secondly, I really wanted to create an all-inclusive, fun-loving community, a gym like no other.
Based in the men's changing rooms - one of my many perks of the job!
The Problem:
For all businesses, it would have to be work-life balance! it continues to be a frustration, not only for me but also for my husband.
But, if I had to be really specific…
Powerhouse Physio: Getting the right team and hanging onto the right team, losing team members always seems to happen when things are going great.
BFI: Finalising the contract between us and Holland, caused more frustration and anger.
Powerhouse Gym: Buying a gym and trying to get clients during a Canberra winter and the start of Covid.
The Solution:
I joined The Hive prior to starting BFI and the Gym, so I only had Powerhouse Physio.
After only 9 months my revenue had increased by $200k.
I gained better focus on what I needed to do to grow my business and to align my team and I finally had a group of not only friends, but also like minded practitioners that I could share and ask anything of.
The Outcome:
Really busy. Still planning for a family somewhere amongst all of this.
Powerhouse Physio: Turn over around $500K prior to the Hive, now around $850-9K.
Net profit before Hive approx $80K, now around $200K.
BFI: $100K turnover with $22K net profit after 2 years.
Powerhouse Gym: $200K turnover, yet to break even but getting closer.
Enjoying some precious time outside of work
The Future:
Get them all to the point where they run extremely efficiently without mewhilst still having a presence to ensure they all continue to grow.
Outside the Practice:
I reckon I would enjoy a lot of things, I just don’t make the time to do much. When I do manage to steal some time, I enjoy going to the gym, riding my motorbike and playing piano.
Suzie is a power rocket fuelling her teams and businesses to success, and she is working towards the goal of having more time to recharge and invest her time in life outside of work.
“You don’t ask a juggler which ball is highest in priority. Success is to do it all.” John Armstrong.
Congratulations Suzie on keeping all the balls up in the air! 🙂
To your own success and beyond.
